User:PichuUmbreon/How not to be a Noob
It is possible to turn a noob into someone worth talking to. But there are many things a noob has to do before turning good. This article may be able to help you.
People are encouraged to contribute.
Speak proper English
Using 1337 speak all of the time does not make you 1337. (But it's good for encryption or something.) Using nooblish or AOLspeak does not make you 1337 either.
If you use decent English often, people won't be annoyed by you.
Example of good English:
- Have you beaten Sonic 3 and Knuckles? I have many times, and it's quite good.
Example of decent English:
- Have you beated Sonic 3 and Knuckles? I have many times, and it's good
Example of nooblish/AOLspeak:
- have u beatn sonic 3 n knuckles? i have many times n its good
Decent English that does not annoy people would:
- Capitalize the first letter of every sentence, unless the first character is a number.
- Not use chatspeak such as u, 2, ru, etc.
Don't ask too many questions
If you rely on other people too much, then they'll be annoyed by you. Most people weren't born to always help. If you don't know something, then first try to use Google or figure it out yourself.
Don't appear to have brain damage
If you always tell everyone you took over China, or that everyone loves you and wants to be your servant, they'll call you a crazy bastard. Sure, it's good to joke sometimes, but not in a way you'll appear mentally ill.
Be good with what power you have
If you were given admin powers, you should use it well every time you do use it. Otherwise, people will call you epic fail. The same goes for other kinds of power, too.
